African Station and African American Weekend: Paris Olympics 2024

Honored to have helped designed the logos for both the African American Weekend and Africa Station at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Problem:
The challenge was to create a compelling and cohesive brand identity for the African Station and African American Weekend during the Paris 2024 Olympics. The goal was to celebrate African and African American culture, attract visitors to Saint Denis, and foster a sense of pan-African collaboration. Additionally, the project needed to address the logistical and creative challenges of coordinating a large-scale international event.

Idea:
Create a unified brand experience that celebrates African and African American culture at the Paris 2024 Olympics by integrating visual storytelling, digital engagement, and collaborative partnerships to foster a vibrant pan-African identity.

Project Scope:
As the Marketing and Design Lead, I oversaw a wide range of responsibilities, including:

  • Brand Vision and Story: Developed a comprehensive brand identity system that captured the essence of African and African American culture. This included creating a visual narrative that resonated with the rich history and diversity of the African continent and its diaspora.
  • Social Media Marketing: Led the digital strategy to promote the event across various platforms, driving engagement and awareness. Managed content creation, copywriting, and visual storytelling to build excitement and attract a global audience.
  • Visual Design: Directed the creation of all visual elements, from logos and icons to event signage and promotional materials. Ensured consistency across all mediums, including print, digital, and environmental designs.
  • Collaborations: Worked closely with the Mayor of Saint Denis Island Mohamed Gnabaly, Olivier N’Guessan, La Maison de l'Afrique, and Amber Clifford of Murai Consulting. This collaboration was key to aligning project objectives and executing the vision effectively.
  • Website Design: Conceptualized and designed the event's website to serve as a central hub for information, registration, and engagement. The site reflected the brand's identity and provided a seamless user experience.

Website Design:
Designed a user-friendly and visually appealing website that featured event details, schedules, and interactive elements. The website served as a platform to engage with visitors before, during, and after the event, enhancing the overall experience.

Impact:
The African Station and African American Weekend were widely celebrated for their cultural significance and success in drawing Olympic attendees to Saint Denis. The project not only honored the legacy of African and African American contributions but also set the stage for future collaborations, possibly leading to Saint Denis and its collaborators assisting in the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.

Lisboa Criola x Gulbenkian Museum 2023

Problem:
The Gulbenkian Museum needed to effectively communicate the cultural significance and impact of the Jardim de Verão 2024, an event celebrating diverse cultural expressions through music, cinema, and conversations. The challenge was to craft messaging that would resonate with a broad audience while respecting the rich histories being celebrated.

Idea:
Communicate the cultural significance of the Jardim de Verão 2024 through strategic storytelling and visual content, highlighting the event’s celebration of diverse cultural expressions and its focus on historical and contemporary dialogues around cultural solidarity.

Project Scope:

  • Photography & Videography: Captured the vibrant essence of the festival, focusing on performances, audience engagement, and the overall ambiance of the event.
  • Social Media Marketing: Assisted in organizing and refining the social media strategy, ensuring the event's narrative was compelling and cohesive across platforms.
  • Messaging Collaboration: Worked closely with music curator Dino D’Santiago on messaging strategies. My contributions helped shape the event's impact narrative, which Dino then translated into his native Portuguese, ensuring cultural relevance and authenticity.

Brand Vision and Story:
The event was centered around celebrating the 50th anniversary of the 25th of April and the 100th anniversary of Amílcar Cabral’s birth. Through strategic visual and written storytelling, the project aimed to create a dialogue around cultural solidarity and the future of cultural expression.

Idea:
Develop a global ethnographic research project that explores cultural identity and social dynamics, then apply the findings to educate and cultivate an impactful personal brand , culminating in significant social media growth and the founding of ADEOSHY Studios.

Project Scope:
During my Watson Fellowship, I embarked on a comprehensive global research project that focused on cultural dynamics and identity. This ethnography project extended beyond traditional academic research, as I sought to apply my findings to real-world personal branding and digital engagement strategies.

Research:
My research involved deep ethnographic studies across various countries, where I explored the complex relationships between culture, identity, and social dynamics. This research laid the foundation for developing strategies that resonate with diverse audiences and effectively communicate complex cultural narratives through digital platforms.

Impact:
A significant outcome of this work was the rapid growth of my TikTok presence, where I successfully expanded my following to 70,000 users. A standout post reached 6 million people and received 1.6 million likes, demonstrating my ability to create highly engaging and impactful content. This success led to the formation of my LLC, ADEOSHY Studios, which has since collaborated with prestigious clients such as Vocal Media, the Gulbenkian Museum, the Olympics, and the City of Saint Denis.

Future Outcomes:
Building on these achievements, I continue to refine my approach to digital storytelling and audience engagement. ADEOSHY Studios is poised to expand its impact by leveraging my research insights and strategic vision to drive future collaborations. The goal is to consistently deliver innovative, culturally resonant content that strengthens connections between brands, communities, and their audiences.
